Real weddings

Stories from our couples

Every wedding at Willowmere House is different. Here are a few of the ones we are still talking about.

Real stories

Told in their own words

We asked three couples who celebrated at Willowmere House to tell us about their day. These are their stories, written the way they actually experienced it.

Amelia & James

When we visited Willowmere House for the first time, we had already seen six other venues. James had been politely noncommittal about all of them. The moment we stepped into The Orangery, he turned to me and said, "This is it." We were engaged, we had a venue and the sun was shining. It felt like a very good omen.

I did not expect to cry at a menu tasting. Willowmere made the whole experience so joyful that I seem to have cried at most of it.

Favourite moment

The confetti walk through the kitchen gardens felt like something from a film.

Sophie & Daniel

We planned our wedding in eight months, which most people told us was too short. The Willowmere team told us it was entirely manageable and then proceeded to prove it. The day was calm, beautiful and so well run that Sophie forgot to feel nervous, which was the thing she had been most worried about.

Our guests tell us it is the best wedding they have ever been to. We like to think we deserve some credit, but really it was the venue.

Favourite moment

Watching our friends and family dancing in The Orangery at midnight, not wanting the evening to end.

Maya & Theo

We chose a winter wedding partly because Theo loves the particular stillness of January and partly because we wanted something a little different from the usual summer celebrations. The whole house was lit with candles and there was a fire in every room. Our guests arrived and then refused to leave, which felt like the best possible compliment.

I have never felt warmer in January. And I do not mean the fire.

Favourite moment

Hot chocolate and sloe gin by the fire in The Manor Hall at midnight, with the snow just beginning outside.
